Generators for Home Use Afford One Unbridled Comfort, Assurance
Generators for home use are essential investments for all Homeowners.
Well-made, dependable home generators can be the difference between
sustained peace-of-mind, and an all-out scramble for the power of any capacity.
Moreover, it’s not uncommon for residents to rely on trustworthy generators for home use in dire situations due to aggressive, torrential snowfall and seasonal, inclement weather conditions.
Thus, occasionally (& definitely more so than residents would prefer), there is sustained Power-Grid failure resulting in area-wide outages—making home generators indispensable.
Although, in many areas, heat is supplied via Natural Gas, without sufficient electricity, the blowers will not function which eliminates the circulatory strength to heat a moderate-to-large space.
Unfortunately, in situations like this, families are relegated to hovering around a central heat supply in order to circumvent ‘freezing-to-death.’
Contrarily, still, we have many regions that receive all of their power exclusively from electricity (as is common for Mobile Homes and Trailer Parks.)
In this case, being without electricity is more than an inconvenience—it’s a crisis.
Due to the lone energy source (electricity), not only are citizens without adequate heat but lose hot water (electric hot water heaters) and cooking capabilities (electric stoves) as well.
During desperate times similar to these, hopefully, one can rely on the hospitality of a close friend or relative for temporary refuge; but, even in the most extreme conditions, the age-old adage rings true: ‘there’s no place like home.’
Therefore, as responsible, forward-thinking individuals, invaluable securities are, in fact, generators.
Generators for home use not only furnish the obvious benefits but also afford one a worry-free conscience in respect of the always prevalent ‘what-ifs.’
Therefore, we must prepare for the possible, probable, and (in some places) imminent—especially for those in all-electric areas.
Not to mention, in the majority of rural districts, a backup power supply is as common (and essential!) as a stove, refrigerator, or electric outlet itself.
With respect to manufacturers, Generac Standby Generators have been the industry leaders for many-years-running.
Furthermore, as one might be vaguely familiar with generators and the basic functionality thereof, generators for home use pose a unique challenge: they must power several components simultaneously.
That being established, one must consider the variant types of home generators, and determine which will best meet his/her fundamental requirements.
Generators for home use can be categorized differently depending on several factors:
Power Source
- Gasoline Powered Generators
- Diesel Powered Generators
- Propane Powered Generator
- Inverter Generators for Home Use
Power Supply
Number of watts produced—an invariable determinant of the overall capacity of the generator
Portability
Some generators for home use are indeed portable and can be moved to different locations
Moving forward, to effectively decide which generator for home use is best, one must first have a solid comprehension of the different capabilities inherent to each…
Basically, there are three (3) types of equipment: Conventional, home electric generators; portables; and inverter varieties.
The former is what most are familiar with due to the customary larger size (and noise output), while the latter is slightly less known, considerably smaller, more technologically advanced, and comes with a higher price tag.
As for standard versions, accompanying the larger size and decibel level is more substantial energy production as well.
However, in terms of portability, an inverter is much less cumbersome/heavy, so it more conveniently lends itself to transit.
Also, not all heavy-duty portable gas generators entail high levels of noise emission.
For example, Champion 41533 is yet but one exception to this observation.
Another issue relative to all designs is fuel (power) source and the advantages/disadvantages of each…
Propane Home Generators
Obviously, gasoline & diesel makes are the most readily accessible; however, a propane model provides the most cost-effective solution for extended supplemental power consumption.
Given that propane is generally less expensive than either gas or diesel fuel, it makes for a sensible option when the time to purchase a generator for home use.
Additionally, given the unstable and somewhat volatile fluctuations of crude prices, propane cost speculation is highly accurately juxtaposed to either gas or diesel—which helps an equipment buyer to better budget for future expenses.
Clearly, there is an abundance of value-added with propane, and particularly, portable propane generators; unfortunately, however, there are some downsides as well.
Notably, the chief disadvantage of propane generators reverts back to the concern about fuel supply; or, in this instance, the lack thereof.
Again, there are many areas where there is no natural or propane gas access; notwithstanding the universal cost, environmental benefits therefrom.
Thus, in locations where electricity is the ‘be-all, end-all,’ one must select a viable alternative for emergency power capabilities: Gasoline or Diesel Generators for home use.
As an overview, there are several brands that successfully construct, distribute gas and/or diesel engine generators.
Manufacturers of Gas and/or Diesel Engine Generators:
- Generac Power Generators
- Kohler Generators
- John Deere Generators
- Onan Generators
- Honda Generators
- Guardian Generators
- Kubota Generators
- Kawasaki Generators
- Coleman Generators
- Yamaha Generators
- Champion Generators
- Briggs and Stratton Generators
- Many Others as well…
Finally, as there are so many choices + decisions to make, one might ask, “what’s the difference between generators for home use, home generators, home standby generators, whole house generators, and a home backup generator???”
Well, my friend, there are indeed variations between each classification and that’s exactly why we’ve assembled a ‘Generators for Home Use Learning Center’ (accessed via the Navigational Menu on the left-hand side of every page.)
What’s more, being that gas and diesel models are most prominent (and abundant!), we’ve dissected this group so as to adequately cover the leading makes, models in detail…
Thus, in conjunction with our ‘umbrella’ generators section (A.K.A ‘The Generators Learning Center’), you have an all-inclusive destination to research, learn, and source every major category of interest.
Inside, you’ll find manufacturer recommendations; maintenance advice; model specs; fuel capacity/consumption; performance features; and much more—all to help you select a befitting generator for your needs.
Take your time!
Go at your own pace…
Visit often.
Allow yourself to absorb the information—use it as a reference—you will be more prepared to choose the proper model for your situation.
Besides, due to enhanced knowledge about the ‘product-in-pursuit’, you can negotiate more favorable pricing in the result!
